Virtual Machine Snapshots

Virtual machine snapshots capture the complete state of a virtual machine at a specific point in time. This includes disk data, memory contents, and system configuration. Snapshots are commonly used before updates or configuration changes.

If an issue occurs, administrators can revert the virtual machine to the snapshot state, significantly reducing recovery time. Snapshots are especially useful during testing or troubleshooting scenarios.

However, snapshots consume storage and may affect performance if retained for long periods. They are not a substitute for backups and should be managed carefully to avoid system degradation.
